Lebanese customs authorities prohibit the import or export of firearms and antiquities, except with special permission. Special Circumstances Local telephone service is unreliable, and it is extremely difficult to contact the U.S. Embassy or place a local call from most of the country. Family Issues Lebanese fathers of minor children (under 18 years of age) may legally prevent their children from leaving or being taken from Lebanon. Likewise, a Lebanese husband may take legal action to prevent his wife from leaving the country, regardless of her nationality. Once such legal orders are in place, the U.S. Embassy cannot assist American citizens to leave Lebanon. Have a terrific day!
